DATA ENGINEER

The High Technology Foundation is seeking a Data Engineer to join our growing team.  This is a full-time, onsite position in Fairmont, WV.

This person will help generate insights by organizing, designing, and reviewing a variety of datasets, especially renewables, climate, and weather domains, related to multiple applications including solar energy deployment, Big Data management, and cloud-based analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply analytical problem-solving methods to projects and issues
  • Design, develop, and prototype tools and applications—both independently and as part of a team—to enhance data analysis and visualization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate analytical solutions into workflows
  • Conduct and document analysis utilizing applicable guidelines and standards
  • Develop data-driven models to support decision-making
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret data patterns
  • Generate comprehensive reports based on analytical findings
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience with various programming languages (Python, SQL, R, Jupyter Notebooks, etc.)
  • 3+ years’ experience in data analytics on any data warehouse platform (Oracle, SQL, Google Cloud, AWS, etc.)
  • 3+ years’ experience in cloud-based DevOps
  • Experience developing, configuring, and deploying both cloud-native applications as well as virtual machine-based applications
  • Experience developing, using, and configuring container-based applications (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • General knowledge of business analytics methodologies and tools such as Jupyter Notebooks or R-Studio
  • General understanding of data profiling and metadata management
  • Demonstrated experience working on projects, through professional experience
  • Knowledge of project management tools or techniques and processes
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with Design Thinking processes
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodology

  • Ability to manage team directives toward established goals

Desirable additional background:

  • Basic knowledge of meteorology and physics
  • Basic knowledge of renewable energy sources (solar, wind, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of remote sensing
  • Be comfortable working with both internal and external groups, as well as independently

Compensation:
